The sweetest beginning
Some babies arrive right on schedule. Others make sure everyone knows from the very beginning that they have their own plans. ❤️
Baby Archer Egbert decided to make his entrance a few weeks earlier than expected, surprising his entire family — but what a beautiful surprise he was!
From the moment he arrived, Archer has been surrounded by so much love. His parents are completely smitten with their new little boy, and you can feel the happiness in every corner of their home. He came into this world already making a grand entrance, and I have a feeling that is just the beginning of his story.
His best Friend
And then there is Walter, Archer’s very proud fur big brother and best friend. 🐾
Walter was absolutely part of the action during our newborn session and seemed very interested in making sure he didn't miss out on any of the photographs. I always love including family pets in newborn sessions because they are such an important part of the family story. Walter’s curiosity and excitement made these images even more special — and, honestly, I think he already knows that his new job is to watch over his baby brother.
The Tiny Details
There is something incredibly special about photographing a family during those first days with a new baby.
Everything is new.
The tiny fingers. The sleepy stretches. The way parents look at their baby as if they still can't quite believe he is really here. The little details that seem ordinary in the moment but become priceless memories years later.
As a newborn photographer, I get to step into these moments for just a little while and preserve them for families to look back on.
And every time I do, I am reminded of my own babies.
I remember what it felt like to hold my daughters when they were tiny, to watch them sleep, to wonder how someone so small could completely change your world. It feels like yesterday — and somehow, those little babies grow up so incredibly fast.
Time really does pass in the blink of an eye.
That is one of the reasons I love what I do so much. Photographing new families isn't just about creating beautiful images. It's about preserving a chapter that will never happen exactly this way again.
Today, Archer is tiny enough to curl up in his parents' arms. Walter is getting used to his new role as big brother. And his parents are soaking in those first precious days of having their little boy home.
One day, Archer will be running around the house with Walter, and these quiet newborn days will feel like a distant memory.
But these photographs will bring them right back.
Welcome to the world, sweet Archer. You are already so very loved. 🤍
